Yep, my doctor told me that I had to lose weight. I’m not going to tell you how much weight he said I had to lose…..it’s just too embarrassing.
I just changed doctors and was going in for preliminary checkups. I am very pleased with this doctor. Most doctor’s that I’ve seen in the past just look at me and figure that I’m young and shouldn’t have much to worry about. They tell me to lose 20 pounds and then go about thier business. This doctor started with testing right away. He sent me to the labs and told me to come back in two weeks. My blood pressure and heart rate were high on that first visit. Right away he sent to the the pharmacy to get medicine to keep my blood pressure down. He also said that I needed to lose weight but that he didn’t reccommend that I start doing any vigorous exercise right away. He wanted to see if he could get my heart rate down before he sent me out jogging.
I just came back from my second appointment a couple of days back. I responded well to the medication that he put me on. My heart rate was much lower and my blood pressure dropped about 15 points. Then he went over the lab results. My cholestorol wasn’t too high, but I had elevated enzyme levels in my liver. He was concerned. So was I. I’m only 32. But, he said that it was likely a factor of carrying too much weight around. It’s time for, “a strict diet and vigorous exercise,” he said. He made sure to tell me this right in front of my wife. Now, I have to do it!
So, I’m on a calorie based diet and I’m constantly hungry. It also makes me a bit iritable. But its time to do it. I’m too young to be in poor health. I’m glad that I have a doctor and wife who care!

i changed docs too and see her in a month. i’m worried what she’s gonna say. as of late my blood pressure has been slightly high 136/86. i have never had my cholestorol done bc I am afraid of the results. I turn 40 this year – yikes!
Take care and BE ENCOURAGED
Thank you for the encouragement. Your BP is the same as mine after taking meds for one month!
Arhh best of luck to you and stick at it! My BP went up really high when I had pre-eclampsia with daughter no 2! I was very ill. Hopefully it`s ok now. I feel ok although I need to loose a few pounds I think. My jeans feel tighter.
It`s difficult when you have kids to cut out the goodies, but I am going to try. At least I went to aerobics this week! It`s a start
