I’m getting tired of bloggers, and the media on both sides bringing hyperbole into the recent election cycle.  Especially as it relates to Barack Obama.  It seems that from one side of the aisle if you are against the man you must be a racist.  The other side of the aisle seems to only want to talk about his upbringing in Indonesia.  I’ve decided to go right to the issues to show why I won’t vote for him.  As well as why I don’t think that he is the most evil politician this country has faced.

The Democrats have branded McCain as the third term of G.W. Bush.  But, I tell you that Obama is the second term of Carter.  With a democratic majority in congress and the senate his administration can completely undo the advances of the last 28 years.  Nonetheless, I don’t think that he is a bad person.  And I agree that his presidency would do wonders for race relations in this country. 

But, I’m still voting for McCain.

Well, this is a benchmark!  I’ve just passed 10,000 posts.  Unfortunately, It comes at a time when I’m not posting very much.  This is the busiest time of year at my job, and the first time that I’ve gone through the busy season.  I’m working my tail off.  But, I’ll get back on track!

John Bolton has written an outstanding article today on the foriegn policy gaffes of Senator Obama. Here is one excerpt:

Consider his facile observations about President Kennedy’s first meeting with Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev, in Vienna in 1961. Obama saw it as a meeting that helped win the Cold War, when in fact it was an embarrassment for the American side. The inexperienced Kennedy performed so poorly that Khrushchev may well have been encouraged to position Soviet missiles in Cuba in 1962, thus precipitating one of the Cold War’s most dangerous crises.

Such realities should cause Obama to become more circumspect, minimizing his off-the-cuff observations about history, grand strategy and diplomacy. In fact, he has done exactly the opposite, exhibiting so many gaps in his knowledge and understanding of world affairs that they have not yet received the attention they deserve. He consistently reveals failings in foreign policy that are far more serious than even his critics had previously imagined.

It’s a shame that the political arena has become more and more like the rock’n'roll arena where style and flash far outweigh substance. We may very well be on the way to electing the most liberal and inexperienced president in our countries history. On most substantive issues John McCain is superior to Obama in his theory and his execution. But due to his stiff nature and his age these things may not matter come November.

Well the NFL Draft is upon us and I am stoked!  I love the draft.  I actually enjoy the draft more than the Superbowl most years.  The Superbowl is a bittersweet goodbye.  The draft is the promise of hope and the first blooms on the ever flowering tre…..uh…nevermind.

I have nearly every minute between now and 3 pm eastern time scheduled out so that I can accomplish my myriad husbandly tasks and still get a seat for six straight hours of drafty goodness! 

Now, being such a draftnik you would think that I would have created my own mock draft.  Not so.  I thought about it, but decided not to.  As much as I consider myself a fan of the NFL the reality is that I don’t have enough perspective on all 32 teams to know what they are going to do.  I have no idea who the Tampa Bay Bucs should take at the 19th pick.  But, that doesn’t mean that I can’t make predictions!  So, here is what I think I know about this years draft class. 

• Glenn Dorsey is going to be a special players who unfortunately will be too injured too often to create a long term impact.
• Vernon Gholston will be a good player….but not a star.
• On the other hand, Matt Ryan will be a star…if he lands on a team where he doesn’t have to run for his life!  The further he drops the better things will be for him.  I think that he is better than people are giving him credit for, but he isn’t mobile enough to avoid pressure. 
• Ryan Clady is going to be a mutliyear probowler at Left Tackle.  He will end up being the best Left Tackle in this draft class.
• Someone is going to draft Malcolm Kelly in the first round.  And someone is going to be sorry that they did!
• Brandon Albert is not going to go in the top twenty picks.  Two months ago Albert was listed as a mid-second round prospect.  In recent weeks he has shot up the boards.  I’ve seen him as high as the fifth pick to the Chiefs.  No way.  He might go as high as thirteen to the Panthers, but if I had to guess I would say he lands with the Skins at 21 or the Seahawks at 25.  The reason?  He’s a guard.  And despite playing well as a left tackle for two games….it was still only two games.  I think most GM’s know more than Mel Kiper and they realize that he is a Guard who might be able to play Tackle.  And that isn’t the kind of guy that you take with a top 10 pick. 
• This draft class is going to have a very weak first round.  Five years from now 20 of the first 31 picks will be out of the league!  OK, so that isn’t an earth shattering predicition.  But, I’m going to tell you who actually ends up making it!.  Here’s the list of guys who are actually going to work out; Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Ryan Clady, Brandon Albert, Keith Rivers, Chris Long, Phillip Merling, Sedrick Ellis, Mike Jenkins, Chris Williams, and Jonathan Stewart.  All the rest will bust.
• Ray Rice will be an amazing player….for as long as his body holds up!  But those tires already have a good bit of wear.  In a two back system he might get six or seven years in the league!

Yahoo’s main page linked to a Huffington Post entry regarding the Democratic debates. I can’t say that readers of the Huffington Post are necessarily representative of the Democrats. But, it seems that they are representative of the far left in this country, and what those people think is frighteningly scary. Check out some of these comments below.

William Ayers and his wife Bernadette are true American heroes. Thank “god” for those two. While most people in the late 60s were either futilely waving silly banners and doing things that had no impact - these two took the fight to the heart of the death machine. So what if a couple ROTC offices got bombed. That is nothing compared to what the Army did to the 10’s of thousands of unwilling dupes who got enslaved into being pawns in an unwinnable “war” - a dirty war that all involved knew was a total waste of time.
It is too bad that there aren’t any more heroes today like Ayers & Co. who have the balls to stand up to the history that is being repeated - instead we have a dumbed down nation of idiots who just believe the propaganda that gets spoon-fed to them nightly by the same jerks who ran that circus show of a “debate” in PA last night.

Yikes! If you aren’t happy with the way things in this country are going then terrorism is OK? Wow! So, then the 9/11 bombers were right? This is what happens when moral relativism goes bad!

When I clicked on the link there were 25 pages of comments. I didn’t read them all. And they weren’t all of the nature above. The majority of the comments seemed to indicate that this was an unfair ambush of the candidates, or that the questions raised weren’t really important in the grand scheme of things.

It seems to me that both candidates did a poor job fielding these questions and thier supporters are trying to cover for them. Instead of looking at this debate as an ambush, perhaps the cadidates themselves should have looked at it as an opportunity. I find it hard to believe that neither campaign has heard these issues raised. They must know what the opposition is talking about. And if they have no answer for that, if they haven’t prepared themselves to answer those questions, then shame on them. Instead of seizing this as an opportunity to deflate issues the candidates tried to deflect the questions, and they looked like kids caught with their hands in the cookie jar. They looked like a kid who didn’t do his homework getting called on by the teacher. Do you blame the teacher? I don’t.

According to an AP report released today Bruce Sprinsteen is endorsing Barack Obama. Thankfully, tramps like us now know who to vote for.

Can anyone tell me why this matters? This is the equivalent of Bill Dance endorsing John McCain. Has Bruce Sprinsteen done anything of note in the last ten years? The only time that I hear his name is when he is sticking his nose into the political arena. What are his political qualifications? Just because you wrote “Brothers Under the Bridge” doesn’t make you a great political mind.

At a recent protest of Scientology a member of Anonymous was shocked to find a picture of his face along with his real name and address on the sign of a fellow protester.  He crossed the street and walked up the avenue all the while noticing that the “Anonymous Protesters” holding the sign followed him.  He alerted friends who watched the supposed protester’s later walk into the Sceintology center that was being protested.  Thus, he was able to confirm his suspicion that these “protesters” were actually Scientology operatives.

It involves car chases, poisoned pets, and other “crimes.” It’s a pretty amazing story that gives us a glimpse of just how serious these folks take thier protesting, and their “religion.”
